The VASJ Boys Varsity bowling team fell in a closely contested match to Ashtabula Lakeside on Wednesday night 1861-1936. Junior Aaron Martin led the Vikings in the first two games posting a match high score of 213 in the first game and 197 in the second game for a two game total of 410, which led all competitors. Sebastian Karikas led the way in total pins for the Dragons with games of 181 and 211 for a two game total of 392.
After the two traditional games, VASJ trailed Lakeside 1497-1396 heading into three Baker games. After falling in the first two Baker games 125-141 and 149-157, the Vikings made a furious comeback in the third and final game of the night, winning 191-141. Despite the Vikings winning the total pins in the Baker games 465-439, Lakeside was able to hold off the comeback bid to win 1936-1861.
Top individual performers for VASJ were Aaron Martin with 410 pins, senior Harrison McCreight with 308 pins, junior Josh Kozak with 239 pins, freshman Eddie Sustarsic with 238 pins, and finishing the scoring for the Vikings was junior Jay Chatman with 201 pins.
The JV team fell to Lakeside by a final tally of 1195-1322. High pin total for VASJ was sophomore Nick Bezak with 203 total pins.
The Viking bowlers next match is Saturday, December 1, at Buckeye Lanes starting at 9 a.m.
