VASJ wrestlers Nate Oriani and Josh Longstreet remained alive for a possible state berth by splitting their matches on Day 1 of the Division III Garfield Heights District on March 6.
Oriani and Longstreet each went 1-1 on opening night.
Oriani won his first match, 7-2, after giving up the first takedown.
Longstreet also came from behind in his second match to win with a 5-point move that resulted in a pin.
“I’m very pleased for our guys on Day 1. They advance to the second day of competition,” VASJ coach Bob Mullin said.
