Vikings News · VASJ GOLF – 2019 Vikings season preview

The 2019 VASJ Vikings golf team has plenty of reason for excitement as a balance of youth, talent and promise for the future fill the roster for Coach Ricky Grycan.

The Vikings return five starters from last year’s roster. Led by 2018 team MVP, sophomore BK Kwasniak, VASJ has the firepower to compete in the regular season and beyond. Kwasniak looks to improve on his brilliant freshman campaign and compete to medal early and often this year.
Junior Paul Wise brings upper classman leadership to the young Viking squad. Wise finished best on the team at NCL championship last year taking second-team honors.
Zac Tizzano and Patrick Dunmire look to build upon successful freshman seasons and compete every match. The Vikings will need both sophomores to score well if they want to have a successful year.
Johnathan Cook is the sole senior of the team. Cook made major improvements from sophomore to junior year. If the improvements continue he should conclude his four years as a letterman with a memorable season.
Excitement surrounds the lone female golfer on the team, freshman Sammy Turk. Grycan says Turk has shown she can drive it with the boys and doesn’t hesitate to compete.
Rounding the team out is first-year golfer, junior Liam Brown.
“We are hoping his talents on the baseball field transition to the course,” Grycan said.
The Vikings also welcome the addition of former graduate and golf standout Collin Green to the coaching staff as assistant coach.
