The Viking baseball team lost a heart breaker on Monday April 8th to NCL foe, Trinity, by a final score of 7-4. The Vikings led 4-2 heading into the bottom of the 7th inning, but with two outs and the bases loaded, Trinity hit a walk-off grand slam to end the game.
Kyle Trickett gave the Vikings a strong performance on the mound. Pitching six innings and striking out seven Trojan hitters.
At the plate, the Vikings scattered six hits, but also showed patience and drew an additional five walks as a team. Jake Smith led the Vikings with two hits and scoring two runs. Kyle Trickett and Pat Creegan each added a hit and both drove in two runs. Johnathon Cook and Owen Nunnally each recorded a hit as well.
In game 2 of the series the Vikings fell in another close game to Trinity 10-8. Kobie Parker homered in the game for VASJ.
The Vikings record is now 4-5.
VASJ returns to the diamond on Thursday April 11th, as they host Cleveland Heights at 7:00pm on Paul Serra Field.
