The VASJ softball team notched their first win of the season last night as they took down Cleveland Central Catholic by a final score of 17-7.
The Vikings had a slow start as they surrendered an early 4-0 lead to CC in the first inning.
After the first inning it was all Vikings the rest of the game. Kimani Ball recorded three hits and four RBI. Rhiannan Edwards had a monster game at the plate as she had three hits and drove in five runs of her own.
On the mound, freshman Caroline Monaco pitched a terrific game, going the distance and recorded her first career victory for the Vikings.
Coach Fabo was very proud of his team and hopes they can maintain momentum.
“It felt great to get the first win of the season,” he says. “We are expecting this to be a turning point in our season.”
The softball team returns to the field today as they travel to take on Cornerstone Christian Academy. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
