VASJ coach Babe Kwasniak is an intense competitor and doesn’t like losing any game for any reason.
However, Kwasniak had very little regrets when it came to the Vikings’ 63-59 loss at Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary on Feb. 19.
A valiant effort in one of the toughest arenas in Ohio came up just short for VASJ during the midst of a brutal stretch of games to close the regular season.
“One of the toughest loses since I’ve been coaching here,” Kwasniak said. “We executed beautifully. Defensively we were stout, we needed to make one or more shots that could have changed the tide.
“You are literally talking about the two most winningest teams in Ohio – so it was never going to be easy. Our kids have fought through so much out of their control this year, I’m proud of our attitude and effort. I love my team and can’t wait for Thursday to go to the Eagle’s Nest (St. Edward).”
VASJ fell to 13-7 on the season with a third consecutive loss – all to top-level teams in Benedictine, Mentor and SVSM.
