The Lady Vikings basketball team hosted the Archbishop Hoban Lady Knights and eventually fell to the Knights 77-21.
The Lady Vikes entered the first quarter with strong team energy that translated into a quick seven-point run, putting them in a strong contending position with the Knights initially. Blackshear, Singelton, and Woodsen all had a field goal each in the first quarter, and Smith hit a foul shot to make seven points. But as the Knights sped up the game with a strong press, the Lady Vikes struggled to score much for the rest of the half. Leading scorers for the Knights, Brewer, Gooden-Wesley, and Griffith all contributed to a 47-17 lead for the Knights at halftime.
Due to the continued use of a fierce press and 2-3 defense from the Knights, the third and fourth quarters were equally as difficult for the Lady Vikes as the first two, with the girls only scoring a total of seven more points in the second half.
Highlights for the Lady Vikes include: Willo Singelton being the top scorer three games in a row, this time with nine points.
The Lady Vikes are now 2-9 overall and 0-5 in the conference.
