The Beaumont Bluestreaks hosted the Lady Vikings on Saturday morning and came away with an 84-59 victory.
The first quarter began with Singleton scoring four of her 13 total points on strong drives to the basket, and Ball pumping up the Lady Vikings’ score with a three-point shot, a field goal, and a foul shot. Unfortunately, as the quarter went on, the Lady Vikes quickly found themselves in deep water with the Bluestreaks’ sharp three-point shooters, Letterio, Perusek, Carvajal, and Gattozzi; each hit a total of three three-point shots throughout the game. The first quarter ended with the Lady Vikes down 28-16.
The second quarter looked brighter as the Lady Vikes tried out new defenses to shut down the Bluestreaks’ three-point shooters, while Ball, Campbell, and Singleton continued to put points on the board for the Vikes. The score was 43-27 at halftime.
Coming out of the locker room with great energy, the Lady Vikes put up 16 points in the third quarter with help from Blackshear (4 points) and Singleton (5 points). Ball continued to drive hard, get to the line, and sink free throws to help the Vikes.
Despite their best efforts, the Lady Vikes were still outscored in the final quarter 20-16, and the Bluestreaks came out with a win.
The Lady Vikings play again this Wednesday, 1/9, at Lutheran East High School.
