VASJ hosted Lake Catholic in a dual on May 8, but the meet itself was overshadowed by an emotional Senior Day celebration.
Six senior athletes – Nate Dean, Chris Boykin, Alex Williams, Carl Chaney, Adam Stauffer and Patrick Sheridan – were honored as part of the exciting afternoon.
“It was great to honor those six guys who have meant so much to the program the past few years,” VASJ coach Scott McNulty said.
“It was nice to have the dual at home, and we ran a lot of JV kids and did some recuperating from the weekend in Dayton. Buy the highlight to me was honoring the seniors.”
McNulty said there weren’t any performances that jumped out from the meet, but he was pleased with the athletes that did compete and he feels confidence in both the boys and girls as the districts near in a week.
“What I see is a team dropping times and peaking at the right part of the season,” McNulty said. “We’re ready.”
Before the Division II District meet next week, the Vikings girls team will host the All Catholic meet on May 12.
