On Wednesday, February 7, Lake Catholic paid our Lady Vikings basketball team a visit on our home court and left with a hard-earned 51-46 victory.
The game was fast-paced in the first quarter, with both teams answering each other almost point for point. Number 5 for Lake Catholic put on an entertaining show for the crowds with her smooth hesitation dribbles, moves to the basket, and total of 21 points, while the Vikings’ points were spread out across the roster—all 11 players contributed to the Lady Vikings 46 points.
The score was 16-24 in Lake Catholic’s favor at half time, and both teams scored 14 points in the third quarter. Lia Campbell hit an essential three-point shot late in the third quarter to bring the Lady Vikes within 7 points of Lake Catholic, and Kyndai Burge hit two three-point shots late in the fourth quarter to try to tie the score. But our girls’ efforts fell slightly short due to #5 and #2’s wide range of abilities and Lake Catholic’s tenacity.
The Lady Vikes played St. Thomas Aquinas on the road Thursday night and will play Cleveland Central Catholic on Saturday for Senior Night. They are 9-9 overall and 5-1 in the conference.
