VASJ CROSS COUNTRY – Young runners lead Vikings at district; Smith closes out solid career on girls side

BOYS

At the Division III Cortland Lakeview District, freshman David Hoffman and sophomore Dylan Barnett crossed the line almost together, finishing in 31st and 32nd place to lead VASJ. Hoffman finished in a time of 19:11.12 and Barnett was just behind at 19:14.47.

Also scoring for the Vikings were sophomores Davante Callahan (49th place), Phillip Davis (50th) and Deonte Warren (54th). Sophomore Matthew Fronczek and freshman Daylen Sanders also competed for VASJ and finished in 66th and 78th, respectively.

The boys team under Coach Scott McNulty continued to improve all fall and will return all seven runners for the 2018 season.

GIRLS

VASJ senior Elizabeth Smith closed out her fine cross country career by finishing 37th at the Division II Cortland Lakeview District. Smith finished in 22:06.78.

Also scoring for the Vikings were freshman Annalise Gibbons (70th place), sophomore Olivia Linsky (78th), junior Hannagh Franczyk (83rd) and senior Erin Osborne (86th).
